2008-03-16 - Moss and lichens Lens: None (zoom) Flash: No Settings: M mode, ISO 80, various shutter speeds and apertures ------------------------------------------- I think it's most common to use macro for things like moss and lichen, but it is possible also to use the zoom. You don't get the real close ups of course, but on the other hand the depth of focus is considerably better. And it's fun too. To the photos >> |

2008-03-16 - Some more Orton effect Lens: N/A Flash: N/A Settings: N/A ------------------------------------------- A small collection of photos which have been given the Orton effect (to various extents). These are all flowers and blossom; subjects I think is very suitable for this effect. I'm still a beginner at this, but it is quite fun. To the photos >> |

2008-03-04 - Carpet Moss - with zoom Lens: None (zoom) Flash: No Settings: M mode, ISO 80, 1/100s, f5,6 - 1/50s, f7,1 ------------------------------------------- This is Carpet Moss, Mnium hornum. It's a quite common moss here. Normally I would photograph moss with a macro lens. And I have done that too. This time, however, I tried another approach: using the zoom. The ight wasn't the best, but it worked. To the photos >> |

2008-03-04 - Walk in Jordbodalen Time: 13.00 - 16.00 pm Weather: Sunny, +3°C, light wind from north-west Settings: Manual mode, ISO 80, mostly f5,6 ------------------------------------------- This tuesday was the first sunny day with light winds in a long time. Despite the low temperature I took a long walk through the valley Jordbodalen. There was warmth from the sun and the snow that came during the night melted. Except in shaded areas. To the photos >> |

2008-03-04 - First attempt at Orton effect Lens: N/A Flash: N/A Settings: N/A ------------------------------------------- The Orton effect (created by Michael Orton) is an effect that makes photos looking more dreamy and rich in colour. Not every photo is suitable for the effect and the amount of dreamyness applied is a matter of taste. These are my first attempts to use this effect To the photos >> |

2008-01-19 - Small waterfall Time: 15.05 (GMT +1) Weather: Sunny with several clouds, +7°C, strong wind from W Settings: Manual mode, ISO 100, aperture 8, speed 1/10s - 1/15s ------------------------------------------- A small waterfall a bit upstream in the creek floating through Jordbodalen. There was quite a lot of water today which of course made it more interesting. To the photos >> |

2008-01-19 - Moon behind trees Time: 15.30 (GMT +1) Weather: Sunny with several clouds, +7°C, strong wind from W Settings: Manual mode, ISO 100, aperture 8, speed 1/160s (first two) - 1/125s ------------------------------------------- As the sunlight became weaker (sun started to set) the moon became more noticable. I decided to try and take a few photos of it "framed" and partially covered by branches from the trees around me. I feared the branches would steal the focus. Luckily that wasn't the case. 2008-01-19 - Saturday walk Time: 14.30 - 15.40 (GMT +1) Weather: Sunny with several clouds, +7°C, strong wind from W Settings: Manual mode, ISO 100 ------------------------------------------- Despite strong winds I took a walk in the neighbourhood today. I had some nice sunshine along the way, and that helped. A lot to see but not many colours and no insects that I could find. Still I'm glad I went out. To the photos >> |

2008-01-16 - Walk in Jordbodalen Time: 14.30 - 15.40 (GMT +1) Weather: Some sun (low and setting), +5°C, quite strong SW wind ------------------------------------------- We had better weather today and I rapidly decided to take another walk. First I went to the little meadow south of here and then to Jordbodalen. The sun was actually shining a little and that was a nice change. I also met a nice young woman walking her dog.
